Description Maria Kathrina arrived with her husband Jost Martin: part of a group of 42 persons brought from Siegen, Germany by Lt Gov Spotswood to Fort Germanna in the newly created county of Spotsylvania to establish mines. They were the first settlers, the founders, of the settlement Spotswood named Germanna.
