The King's Daughters of the King (filles du roi or filles du roy in the spelling of the era) is a term used to refer to the approximately 800 young French women from Paris who immigrated to New France between 1663 and 1673 as part of a program sponsored by King Louis XIV, ensuring the survival of the French colony.

Daughter of Michel Girard and Françoise Graffard, of the parish of St-Cyr de Vaudreuil, archdiocese of Rouen in Normandy, baptized on February 10, 1630 at the same time as her twin Gilles (common act)[1][2] The censuses give 30 years in 1666 and 1667, and 40 in 1681.

Anne Girard lived in Canada, New France.

She contracts marriage before the notary Claude Auber, Wednesday, October 21, 1665, with Nicolas Daudelin, son of Jacques Daudelin and Jeanne Lépine, of the parish of Saint-Paul de Rouen in Normandy,

Anne Girard married Nicolas Daudeline at Château-Richer on Thursday October 22, 1665.[5] [6]

Their union produced four children, three of whom married.[7]

1681 Census: SEIGNEURY OF BEAUPRÉ

Nicolas Dodelin 48; Anne Girard, his wife, 40; children: René and Anne (twins) 14, Marie 12; 19 horned beasts; 37 arpents in value.[9]

This king's daughter arrived with the 1665 contingent. She lived in Ange-Gardien, Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade and Varennes. It was at this last place that she died on August 22, 1710. She was buried there the next day.[10]

Notes: The following acts are in St-Cyr-le-Vaudreuil (St-Cyr). His daughter Marguerite, born outside the union of Louis or Nicolas Loton, b. 28-02-1660, s. 01-03-1660. Three brothers and one sister are baptized: Jean-1, 00-08-1623; Catherine, 00-03-1626; Gilles (twins), 10-02-1630; Claude, 22-06-1632 and Jacques, 12-11-1634. His mother, s. 07-07-1637. His father, b. 22-08-1603, s. 07-08-1661; m-2 on 01-25-1638 with Marie Duguesne, including 5 children b.: Jean-2, 10-03-1641; Louis, 27-10-1642; Françoise, 26-03-1644; Mary, 04-09-1646 and Christmas, 06-25-1650; m-3 on 10-23-1650 with Marie Osmond. His paternal grandparents are Marin Girard, laborer and Madeleine Hébert.[11][12][13]

Girard, Anne
Anne Girard was bom about 1637 in Saint-Cyr-du-Vaudreuil (arrondissement of Les Andelys, archdiocese of Rouen), Normandy, the daughter of Michel Girard and Françoise Graffard. She came to Canada in 1665, at about age 28. On 22 October 1665, Anne married Nicolas Daudelin at Château- Richer. Neither spouse could sign the marriage contract drawn up the day before by notary Aubert. Nicolas was bom about 1635 in the parish of Saint- Paul in Rouen, Normandy, the son of Jacques Daudelin and Jeanne Lépine. He was a farmer for Bertrand Chesnay. Nicolas and Anne settled at Château-Richer, where twins René and Anne were baptized 28 April 1667, followed by another set of twins, Marie and Madeleine on I May 1669. Sadly, Madeleine died some time before the 1681 census. Nicolas Daudelin was buried 25 August 1699 at La Pérade. Anne Girard was buried 22 August 1710 at Varennes.
