Gerberge married Albert I the Pious († 987), Count of Vermandois.Gerberge remarried at the end of the year 939 with Louis IV d'Outremer, son of Charles the Simple. The Lorraine tradition affirms that Gerberge was THEN seduced by Louis IV d'Outremer, threatened with the terrible wrath of the Saxon king. By immediately giving him a child, she thereby saved his life and royal career. The child ombudsman cannot murder the father of the said child in good faith.
