Notes

Gilbird Cushin and Jane Clarke were married 9th October 1608 Norwich St Gregory

Jonathan, son of Gilbert Cushinge, baptised 26th June 1622 Norwich St Andrew

Thomas, son of Gilbert Cushen, baptised 14th May 1629 Norwich St Andrew

So we see here Gilbert and Jane had sons Jonathon and Thomas, but we find no entry for a son named Gilbert. However, it seems very unlikely that these were the only children they had.
N.B I also noted the following baptisms:

Caroline, daughter of Gilbert and Jane Cushing, baptised 7th September 1739 Norwich St Gregory

Jane, daughter of Gilbert and Jane Cushen, baptised 2nd January 1641/2 Norwich St Peter Mancroft
Gilbert Cushinge, non apprenticed tailor, granted freedom 5th September 1608
Did Gilbert and Jane have other children?

We know that the couple married in 1608, in St Gregory, the same year that Gilbert bought his freedom of the city. Before mobving hey had the children listed. They moved and had a son Jonathan in 1622 and a son Thomas in 1629. The IGI does not record any other children born to the couple, but it seems likely to me that they did have more. We know that Gilbert signed his will on 13th October 1636 and that it was proved 29th April 1643. As we know he had a house in St Andrews, the St Andrews register was searched from the 29th April 1643 backwards and the following burial noted:

Gylbert Cushon buried 17th October 1636

So for whatever reason, Gilbert’s will was not actually proved for some 7 years after his death.

St John Maddermarket

As the couple were married in 1608 we can be certain that they did not have any children after 1635. The St John Maddermaket baptisms were searched from 1608 and 1635 and the following noted:

John, the son of Gilbert Cushine, baptised 17th September 1609

Luke, the son of Gilbert Cushian, baptised 28th July 1611

Hannah, the daughter of Gilbert Cushion, baptised 6th September 1612

St Lawrence

The St Lawrence baptisms, marriages and burials are all mixed up at this date. The register was searched from 1613 to 1630 and the following noted:

Cornelius, son of Gilbert Cosin, baptised 17th October 1613

Mrs Cecily Cusian [??] widow, buried 29th May 1614 see Sarah earlier b 8.2.1604 but no connection known

Tymothye, son of Gilbert Cushion, baptised 1st January 1615/6

Joseph, son of Gilbert Cushion, baptised 14th December 1617

Francis, son of Gilbert Cushion, buried 17th June 1618

Tymothye, the son of Gilbert Cushion, buried 20th July 1618

Ann, the daughter of Gilbert Cushion, baptised 12th September 1619

Peter, the son of Gilbert Cushen, baptised 14th December 1623

Jonathan, the son of Gilbert Cushin, buried 28th January 1624/5

Robert Curchine was buried 22nd August 1625
