Desportes, Françoise
Françoise Desportes was bom about 1652 in the parish of Saint- Nicolas-des-Champs in Paris, the daughter of Jean Desportes and Isabelle de Gibruse. After her father’s death, Françoise left for Canada in 1669 at about age 17, bringing with her a dowry of goods estimated at 200 livres. On 24 October 1669, notary Becquet drew up a marriage contract between Françoise and François Daniau, but it was annulled and he drew up another one 05 November 1669 at Sillery, between Françoise and Pierre Renaud dit Locat. Neither spouse could sign the contract, which stated that Françoise would receive the King’s Gift of 50 livres. Pierre was bom about 1641 in Corquat (probably Saint-Martin de Carcares, arrondissement and diocese of Beziers), Languedoc, the son of Jean Renaud or Renault and Marie Laurence. He was confirmed 24 August 1664 at Quebec City. Françoise and Pierre settled at Sillery. Son Jean was baptized 19 October 1671 at Québec City. Pierre was baptized 16 December 1672 at Sillery, followed by Françoise-Élisabeth (17 January 1675), Marguerite (17 October 1676) and Marie (bom about 1678). Sadly, Jean died before the 1681 census, which finds the family at Grondines. Marie-Anne was baptized at Grondines 28 February 1680, followed by Marie (married Jean Richard, 1700), Louis (26 May 1684, La Pérade) and Louise (bom about 1686). Jacques was baptized 15 April 1689 at Cap-Santé, followed by Marie- Isabelle dite Madeleine (10 January 1691, Batiscan), François (17 January 1693, Cap-Santé), Marie-Jeanne (married Charles Biron, 1727) and Pierre (20 December 1699, Grondines). Pierre Renaud died 25 January 1713 and was buried the next day at Grondines. Françoise Desportes died 12 April 1736 at Grondines.
