Dated: 11 May 1724
In the name of God Amen I Robert Hewitt of Old Buckenham
in ye County of Norf. Cooper being of pfect sound & disposing Mind & Memory God be praised
for ye same do make & ordain this to be my last Will & Testamt in Manner & form folliwng (that
is to say) Imps: I give & devise unto my Eldest Son Robert Hewitt all my Messuags or Tenemt lying
& being in Old Buckenham next ye Town Greens there at a place called Chattergats together with the
Barn Stables & othr Out: houses yards Gardens &
to ye: same belonging & adjoining & Hemptand to ye same belonging & adjoyning & all
ye Pigletet of Pasture containing by estimation 15 acres (be ye same more or less) there to adjoyning
& belonging lying on ye back side of ye sd Barn 10 sh: 8d; messuags or Tenement & premises as is now in the
use & occupation of my my Son John Hewitt or his Assigns to hold ye same & convey pt thereof wth
their & every of their appurten[ces] to ye sd: Robert my Son & to his Heirs & assigns forever Item I give
& devise unto «b»my Son John Hewitt«/b» & to his Heirs & assigns forever all th[at] my Messuags or Tenement
wherein I now dwell lying & being in Old Buckenham afores[ai]d: next ye sd Town Green together wth ye
Shops & other out houses Edificies Yard & Hempland thereunto belonging & all yt [that]Close or Inclosure of
Pasture lying at ye: North end of ye sd: Yard containing by Estimation two acres (bs ye same more or
less) wth their & every of their appurt:[enences] Item I give & devise unto my Son Thomas Hewitt & to his
Heires & assigns for ever all that my Messuage or Tenement wherein he ye: sd: Thomas my Son now dwell
Lying & being in Old Buckenham aforesd: in a place those called Cake Street together wth ye Barn, Stable
Out houses & other Edifices Yards Garden Orchard & Hempland thereunto belonging wth these & every of their
appurtenances: & And I devise unto ye sd Thos: my Son & to his Heirs & assigns all that my
Pightle or pasture in my own use containing by Estimation one acre be ye same more or less
Lying in Old Buckenham aforsed next ye sd Town green on ye South pt & abutting upon Chorey yard
Close toward ye West with it's Appuntenances Item I give & bequeath unto
my Son Robert Hewitt Sixty poundes to be p[ai]d him within twelve Months next after my decease
Item I give & bequeath unto my Son Thomas Hewitt Thirty poundes to be pd: him wth in twelve
Months next after my decease Item I give unto my Son in Law Henry Murrell Sixty pounds
to be pd him within twelve Months next after my decease & I give & bequeath unto Richard
«b»Muriell my Son in Law«/b» Seaventy pounds to be pd him within twelve Months next after my
decease & wherein yt [that] sd: Henry Murrell my Son in Law stand indebted to me in yt Sum of forty~
Poundes & yt sd: Richard Murrell doth likewise stand indebted to me in yt Sume of Tenn pounds
I doe hereby Acquitt Release & dischare ye sd: Henry Murrell & Ricd: Murrell their Execut:[ors] &
Administrators of and from ye two severall & respective Sums of Forty poundes & Tenn pounds
aforesd: to me due & owing And I doe order & appoint my Execut:[or]s herin after named to give
unto discharges & Releases for ye same as are proper fo ye effectual dischargin thereof Item
my Will & mind is yt ye rest residue & remainder of my Goods Chattles & psonall Estates
whatsoever not herin or herby otherwise disposd of shall so soon as may be after my Fu-
nerall Charges, Charge of Probate of this my Will & my debts & Legacies be first pd: & saltisfge [maybe satisified]
be Converted into Money & equally devided between my Grandchildren Anne Hewitt John Hewitt (Son of ye sd John Hewitt my Son ) Thomas Hewitt, Judith Murrell & Ann Murrell
«/b»Share & Share alike & my Will is yt: each respective share of each my sd: Grandchildren who
shall not be at full age at ye time ye same shall become & payable by this my Will shall
be into ye hands of each Respective Father of such of my sd: Granchildren his Execu[tor] or Admin[istrators]
to be put out at Interest & improved for his her & their respective Benefitt & to be pd him her or
them with ye full Improvement thereof at his & her several & respective ages of One
& twenty years & yt [that] recipt of each respective Father of such my sd Grandchildren his Execut:
Administr: shall be a full & sufficient discharge & release for each respective share herin given
& my Executr: herin after named shall thereby be fully & efectually acquitted thereof Lastly
I doe hereby Nominate Constitute & Appoint my sd Son John Hewitt & my Son in
Law Henry Murrell to be Executors of this my last Will & Testament to whom I give
Forty shillings a piece for their trouble in ye Execution hereof In Witness whereof
I have to this my last Will & Testamt: contained in two Sheets of Paper affixed together
at ye top & there sealed to that first of ye sd Sheets subscribed my name & to ye last sheet
Sett & put my hand & Seal this Eleventh day of May in ye Year of o[ur] Lord One thousand
