Writ, 25 July, 32 Edw. I [1304].
BUCKINGHAM. Inq. 16 Aug. 32 Edw. I.
Crendon. A third part of the manor (extent given), including a free fishery with a weir, held of the king in chief of the Marshalcy of England, service unknown.
Roger his son, aged 18 at the feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross in the year abovesaid, is his next heir.
BERKS AND SOUTHAMPTON. Inq. 9 Aug. 32 Edw. I.
BERKS AND SOUTHAMPTON. Stratfeld Mortimer. The manor (extent given with names of tenants), including parcels of pasture called Forewode, Eyemore and ‘le Viner,’ parks called Chalfgrove with deer, ‘le Shere,’ and ‘le Litlepark’ with deer, 41 tenants (holding lands?) called ‘Plotlond,’ and a custom called ‘garsanese,’ held of the king in chief as member of the barony of Wygemore.
BERKS. Neubery. A plot of land, and parts of 2 water-mills and a tanning mill, free tenants rendering 45s. 4d. yearly, and part of the toll of the market and of the pleas &c. of court, held of the king in chief as a pourparty of the Marshalcy of England.
SOUTHAMPTON. Stratfeld Say. A virgate of land held with Margaret his wife, jointly enfeoffed by Robert le Boteler to hold to them and the heirs of the said Edmund, of Thomas de Say by service of 2s. yearly.
Heir as above, aged 17 on the day of St. Mark last.
The whole of the aforesaid manor of Stratfeld in cos. Berks and Southampton, excepting the hall and chambers, a park called ‘la Shere,’ and 2 villein tenants whose rents and services are worth 16s. yearly, was assigned to Geoffrey de Genevill and Maud hiswife to the value of 42l. yearly in part payment of 120l. yearly assigned to them for a fixed term of years.
SOUTHAMPTON. Inq. made at Wordy Mortimer, 18 Aug. 32 Edw. I.
Wordy by Winchester. A third part of the manor (extent given), including messuages and lands held by Peter Tyrel and John de la Felde, free tenants, 10 cottars in the hamlet of Hok which pertains to the said third part of the manor, and a fishery in the Ichene, held of the king in chief by service of 1/4 knight’s fee. But the said lands &c. are assigned to the abovesaid Geoffrey and Maud to the value of 18l. yearly.

SOMERSET. Inq. taken at Montacute, 22 Aug. 32 Edw. I.
Odecombe. 6l. rent issuing from two parts of the manor and receivable by the hands of Thomas de Morf of the gift &c. of John Wake by a fine levied in the king’s court, held jointly by the said Edmund with Margaret his wife, to them and the heirs of the said Edmund; which two parts were of Maud de Mortuo Mari, mother of the said Edmund, who demised them long before her death to the said Thomas for his life, rendering the said 6l. yearly; the said two parts pertain to the pourparty of the said Edmund de Mortuo Mari of Bridgewater (Brugges Walteri) by service of a third part of 1/5 knight’s fee.
Heir as above, aged 17 on the feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross last.
SOMERSET. Inq. 23 Aug. 32 Edw. I.
Bridgewater (Brugges Walteri). The castle with a third part of the town (extent given), including rents of burgesses, and of shops and stalls, a water-mill and a horse-mill, and 6s. 1d. and 3 capons rent from cottars at Milverton, held jointly with Margaret his wife of the king in chief by service of a third part of 1/5 knight’s fee, by the gift &c. of John Wake by a fine levied in the king’s court, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Edmund.
He also held the following lands &c. alone of divers lords of his own acquirement, viz.—
Bridgewater. Three tenements which Nicholas de la Bruere his bondman (nativus) acquired, rendering 3s. yearly to the lords of Bridgewater.
Frodger in Gothurste. A messuage and 20a. land, of the acquirement of the said bondman, held of William de Gothurste by service of 6d. and doing suit at the king’s hundred of Andredesfeld.

GLOUCESTER. Inq. 22 Aug. 32 Edw. I.
Aure. A pasture upon Aurefeud, 25 free tenants rendering 25s. 5 1/2d. yearly, 25 cottars rendering 33s. 2d. yearly, and a hundred worth 60s. yearly; and a messuage, 21 1/2a. land, 4a. meadow, 2a. pasture and a fishery in the Severn, held for life by Robert de Aure, by the demise of Maud de Mortuo Mari his mother, of the inheritance of the said Edmund, rendering 44s. 6 1/2d. yearly; all held of the king in chief as a pourparty of the Marshalcy of England.
Heir as above, aged 17 on the day of St. Mark last.
WORCESTER. Inq. taken at Worcester on Saturday before St. Bartholomew, 32 Edw. I.
Beaulieu. A messuage the houses whereof are ruined, a rabbit warren, a park, a meadow, 61 free tenants rendering 61s. yearly, pleas &c., of court, and a wood; the whole manor aforesaid is charged with 20s. rent to the prior of St. Mary’s, Worcester, and is a member of Wygemor, which is held of the king in chief by barony.
Intebergh. 20a. arable, 3a. meadow, a wood, a customer rendering 1/2 mark, and free tenants rendering 10s. yearly, held of the king in chief by serjeanty.
Yeddefen. A messuage, 45a. arable, and 3a. meadow, held of Hugh de Mortuo Mari for 1/40 knight’s fee; whereof the aforesaid Edmund and Margaret were jointly enfeoffed by Miles Pychard to them and the heirs of the said Edmund.
Shraueleye. A messuage, 40a. arable, 3a. meadow, a third part of a park, and 2 customers rendering 1/2 mark yearly, held of the earl of Warwick for 1/3 knight’s fee; whereof the said Edmund and Margery were jointly seised by Aline la Poer to them and the heirs of the said Edmund.
Ekynton. A moiety of a messuage, 2 virgates of arable land, 4a. meadow, 5 customers rendering 30s. yearly, and pleas &c. of court, held of the abbot of Westminster for 1/15 knight’s fee; whereof the said Edmund and Margery were jointly seised as last abovesaid.
Norton and Bremesgrave. The said Edmund had 100l. yearly from the manors by the king’s gift.

HEREFORD. Inq. made at Wygemore on Tuesday after the Assumption, 32 Edw. I.
Kyngeslene, Erslene and Penebrug. The manors held jointly by the abovesaid Edmund and Margery, by the enfeoffment of John Wake, with the king’s licence to them and the heirs of the said Edmund, of the king in chief by barony as a member of the barony of Radenore.
Orleton. The manor held jointly in form aforesaid of the king in chief as a member of the barony of Wygemore.
Thornbury. The manor held jointly in form aforesaid, by the king’s enfeoffment, of John de Columbariis by service of a knight’s fee.
Great Marcle. A messuage, a carucate of land, a water-mill and 40s. yearly rent, held jointly, by the king’s enfeoffment in form aforesaid, of William de Lodelawe by service of 1d. yearly.
Heir as above, aged 17 on the day of St. Mark last.
HEREFORD AND SALOP (now Radnor). Inq. made at Radenor, 20 Aug. 32 Edw. I.
HEREFORD (now Radnor). Radenore. The castle and town with the hamlets of Harpeton, Donynton, Walton, Cascop and Claudestre (extents given), including a fish pond, a park without deer, a wood named Clud, which is called the chace of Radenore, with deer, woods called Northwode and Acwode, little woods called Badelondeshelde and Radenoreshelde, water-mills called Dichemeln, Crunkemere, Holebach and New Radenore, 262 1/2 burgages in Radenore, a market every Tuesday, a fair on St. Luke’s day, pleas &c. of the great court, rents from the townships of Old Radenore, Kynardton, Saltforde, Badelonde, Gliditon, and Emynghop, and from free tenants for lands on ‘la Humede’ and Chesewaldesleye, and in Sarnefeld and Bedelesput, and twelve free tenants who render 6s. yearly for the keeping of the castle; all held of the king in chief for a fourth part of a barony.
Prestheinede. The township (extent given), including a market every Saturday, and fairs on the days of St. Andrew and the Nativity of St. John yearly, held of Humphrey de Bohun, earl of Hereford, by service of 2 marks yearly and doing suit at his court ofHuntyngdon every three weeks.
SALOP (now Radnor). Akhull. The hamlet in which are 33 Welsh tenants, held of the king in chief, service unknown.

HEREFORD AND SALOP. Inq. ….. the Assumption …… (defective).
Wygemore. The castle and town with the hamlets of Boriton, Eleton, Leynthale Starkars alias Strarkars and Leynthale Earls, co. Hereford, and Leyntwardin, co. Salop (extents given with the names of certain tenants), including in Wygemor the parks of Wygemore and Gatelith with deer, a wood called Dorfaud, 140 1/4 and 1/6 burgages, a market every Wednesday and a fair on the day of St. James yearly, also in Boriton a wood called Boringwode; all held, together with other lands in England and Wales, of the kingin chief by barony, doing the service of 2 knights’ fees in time of war in Wales, and the service of 1 knight’s fee in war in England.
HEREFORD. Leye. Half a virgate of land and a water-mill held by the said Edmund and Margaret his wife, jointly enfeoffed by John de la Wyke and Juliana his wife to them and their heirs for ever, of Wiliiam de Leye by service of ….
Esthope. 97a. arable and a wood, similarly held, jointly enfeoffed by John le B (?) …… who held of the said Edmund by service of 1lb. pepper yearly.
SALOP. Atfreton. … customers similarly jointly held, who held their lands &c. of the said Edmund and Margaret rendering. .l. 18d. yearly, and doing suit at the court of Affreton every three weeks.

Geoffrey de Genevile and Maud his wife, to whom the said Edmund, in aid of the acquittance of debts in which he was bound to them, with the king’s licence demised 120l. of land and rent in the manors of Stratfeld Mortimer, [Worthi Mortimer, Cle]bury and Wygemore from the feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross, 28 Edw. I, to the end of 8 years, had by the hands of certain tenants in Wygemor, and the said hamlets of Boriton and Leynthale Starkers ….. yearly rent in part payment of the said 120l. yearly payment.
