GILBERT de GANT b 1052 and Alice de Montfort b 1050 Generation 24 Gilbert de Gant , born 1052 in Alost, Flandre Orientale, Belgium; died 1095; buried 1095 in Bardney, Lincolnshire, England, United Kingdom, son of Radulf van Gent and Gisla of Luxembourg . He married Alice de Montfort , born 1050 in Montfort-Sur-, Risle, France, daughter of Hugh de Monfort (Count) and Alice de Beauffou Gilbert (died 1095) later took his surname from having been born in Ghent. He came to England after the Conquest, and married Alice, daughter and heiress of Hugh II de Montfort . They the following children: Hugh Walter de Gant or Gaunt Robert de Gant, Lord Chancellor of England under King Stephen Emma, married Alan de Percy Agnes, who married William FitzNigel, lord of Halton Gilbert was a nephew of William the Conqueror and it is said he fought at the Battle of Hastings with his uncle.
