214. MARGARET, LATE THE WIFE OF JOHN DE LOVAYN. Writ after the death of the said Margaret, who held of the inheritance of the heir of the said John, a minor in the king’s wardship, 4 September, 23 Edward III [1349]. ESSEX. Inq. taken at Eystans ad Turrim, Sunday before St. Matthew, 23 Edward III [1349]. Eystans ad Turrim. A third part of the manor (extent given), including a third part of an enclosure called Hompark, with the advowson of the church, held for her life as dower after the death of the said John, sometime her husband, of the king in chief asof the honour of Wyndelesore by service of a third part of a knight’s fee and by rendering 66s. 8d. yearly for the ward of the castle of Wyndelesore. Brokesheved. The manor (extent given) held for her life by joint acquisition with the said John, sometime her husband, of the lady of Clare, service not known, of the grant of Thomas Symplyng, rector of the church of Stanstede, to them and the heirs of the said John. She died on the feast of St. James the Apostle last [25 July 1349]. Eleanor, her daughter, aged 6 years and more, is her heir. C. Edw. III. File 96. (19.) |
