Dated: 20 September 1601

In the name of God Amen the six & twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and one I Richard Murrell of Old Buckenham in the County of Norfolk yoeman being sick in body but of good & p[er]fect memory praised be Almighty God, but knowing that there is nothing more certaine than death & nothing more uncertaine than the time of dying doe make & ordain this my last will & testam[en]t in manner & form following.

First I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator & Maker hoping Bye & throu the merits of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour & redeemer that after this fraile & brittle life is ended to be made p[ar]taker of eternal life & my body I comit to the earth whereof it is made hoping to have a joyfull reserrection at the last day & for my worldly estate w[hich] Almighty God in his good pleasure hath been pleased to lend me I do hereby dispose of the same as followeth (.)

Imprimis I give & bequeath unto Mary my well beloved wife all & singular my goods chattels cattle both horses mares sows heifers household stuff & implem[en]ts of household & also all & ev[er]y of my (mris) plowes harrows & all my implem[en]ts of husbandry & also my corn grain & hay in the barne or else where of c[u]t nature kind or quality so ever the same to hold to her the said Mary my wife forever upon condition that she pay or cause to be paid unto Mary Murrel my daughter the sum of ten pounds of lawfull money of England at the day of her marriage & also that the said Mary my wife do or shall pay or cause to be paid unto everyone of my children the sume of five pounds (like) money at their several ages of one & twenty years all which payment to be made at or in the porch of the parish church of Old Buckenham aforesaid

I make ordaine & constitute the afores[ai]d Mary my wife & loving brother John Murrel to executors of this my last will & testam[en]t they to take my Debts & pay my debts to see my body decently buried in Xtain burial & I do desire my loving friend Wm Browne neighhbor to be aiding & assisting of my Executors in the forming & fulfilling of this my last will & testament.

In wittness thereof I the said Richard Murrel the testator to this my present last will contained in one sheet of paper have putt my hand & seale the day & yeare above written. The Mark of Richard Murrell
sealed published & declared this to be the last will & testam[ent] of me the said Richard Murrell the testator in the p[re]ssence of John Grey Peter Gray Will[iam] Browne
