The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines refers to the mother of "Waleranni comitis [Mellentini]" as daughter of "Gauterus Albus de Albamarla"[1670]. Yves de Chartres names "Gualterius Albus" as father of "matrem Gualeranni comitis"[1671]. Hugues & his wife had [two] children: (a) GALERAN [III] de Meulan (-8 Dec 1069). Her parentage and marriage are suggested by the charter dated 1066 under which [her son] "Richardus Herluini filius, comitis Galerani Mellenti nepos" donated property to Coulombs, for the love of "fratris mei Roberti predictæ ecclesiæ abbatis, ac etiam…amitæ meæ Helvisæ reclusæ", by charter dated "apud Meullentum castrum" 1066[1673]. This assumes that the word "nepos" in this document can be interpreted in its strict sense of nephew. m HILDUIN Vicomte [de Meulan], son of HUGUES Vicomte [de Meulan] & his wife --- (-[after 1061]).] |
