Redburga (fl. 825) Queen of Wessex, Kent, and the English. Said to be a sister of the king of the Franks, possibly Louis I the Pious, which would make her a daughter of Charlemagne; married Ecgbert also known as Egbert III (c. 775–839), king of Wessex, Kent, and the English(r. 802–839), before 825; children: Edith (d. 871); Æthelwulf or Ethelwulf (b. around 800), king of Wessex and England (r. 839–858); Ethelstan, king of Kent (d. around 851). Redburga's husband Egbert had a long and glorious reign.
