AT the time of the general Survey made by King William the Conqueror, Robert le Blund was possesseda of the Lordships of Gisworth, Walsham, Gascefield, Wice, Sape∣stune, Hepworde, Wicam, Lesewrde, Watefelle, West-Ledestune, Westorp, Wiverthestune, and Giselinche, in Com. Suff.

There was also contemporary with him, William le Blund, (probably his Brother) who then like∣wise heldb the Lordships of Cro•sby, Cateby, Widcale, Torgroby, Salfleteby, and Schitebro•, in Com. Linc.

To which Robert succeeded Gilbert le Blund (his son and heir) which Gilbert Foundedc a Reli∣gious House at that his Mannor of Gisworth, vulgarly called Ixworth, for Canons-regular of S. Augustine's Order: and took* to Wife Alice de Colkirke, by whom he had IssuedWilliam his son and heir. Which William,* by Sarah de Mont∣chensi his Wifee, had Issue another Gilbert*f (but by mistake sometimes written Hubert) who in 12 Hen. 2. upon the Assessment of that Aid then levyed for marrying the King's daughter, certified g his Knights Fees to be in number twelve. This last mentioned Gilbert having weddedhAgnes de Lisle, begot on her Williami his son and heir; who being in minorityk at his Fathers death, be∣came Wardl to the Bishop of Ely; but in 32 Hen. 2. wasm thirty two years of age; the Lands where∣of he was possessed, beingn the Lordships of Yxe∣worth (his chief Seat) Esteldei and Walcham (in Com. Suff.) and Edulfesberg† in Com. Buck.

This William, by Cecelie de Vere his Wifeo, had Issue another William.p, and two daugh∣ters, viz.qAgnes and Rohese; which last menti∣oned William,* in 47 Hen. 3. takingr part with Montfort Earl of Leicester, and other the Rebellious Barons of that time, became a Partys to the Re∣ference then made by them unto Lewes King of France, touching the Ordinances of Oxford: but the next year following beingt Standard-bearer to that Earl in the Battel of Lewes, was there slainu, leaving his two Sisters his heirs; viz.xAgnes the Wife of Sir William de Criket•t Knight, and Rohese of Robert de Valoines; who thereupon sharedy his Lands which were held by Barony.
