[CCV, — Confirmation by King Henry II. of the agreement between the convent of Furness and William fitz Gilbert touching the partition of Furness Fells.]
Henry, King of England, Duke of Normandy and Aquitaine and Count of the Archiep of Andes, etc. and everything to his people the health of the whole of England, France, and England. Know that I have granted and confirmed by my charter the Convention which was made before me between the Monks of Furness and WILLIAM SON OF GILBERT DE MONTANIS DE FURNESIO, which is as follows: Montana de Furness is divided from Kendale by these boundaries, as was sworn, by my order, by the oath of 30 men; so the water descends from Wremeshals to Langedene Little and thence to Helterwater, and thence by Brayza to Winendermer and thence to Levene, and thence to the sea.
But this land was divided by the Abbot of Fournesio by the divisions signed : — From Helterwatra to Tillesburc, and thence to Coningeston and thence to the head of the Turstiniwatra and along the bank of the same water to Crec and thence to Levena. William, however, chose for himself that part which adjoins these boundaries on the western side - To be held of the Abbey of Furness in full and in full, in the forest and the plain, in the waters and fisheries and in all things, paying thence to the Abbey of Furness 20 s annually, and the son of the same William fa [136 col. 2] Homage will then be paid to the Abbot of the same place.
But that part which adjoins the same boundaries on the eastern side belongs to the same Abbey, except that in that part William will have hunting and hawks. Wherefore I will and firmly command that this convention be held firm and unshaken, and that the same Abbey shall have and hold its aforesaid part well and in peace and integrity, in forest and plain, in waters and fisheries, and in all places and things. [CCVI. — Final concord between the Convent, and Gilbert FitzRoger FitzReinfrid and his wife Helwyse, touching Furness Fells, etc., PRECEDED BY A GENELAOGICAL NOTICE OF THE WILLIAM FITZ GILBERT named in the preceding deed, and his descendants.]

[NOTE: The following final concord says that this WILLIAM FITZ GILBERT was a Tailboys. So unless Ivo is another version of Gilbert then William’s father was Gilbert DE MONTANIS DE FURNESIO. Does this make him also a Taillebois?]

This was the first William who caused himself to be called, by license Lord King, William de Lancaster, Baron de Kendale, who was formerly called de Tailboys; who betrothed Gundreda the Countess of Warwick, and indeed William begat of Gundreda the aforesaid Willelmum second.
A certain William II betrothed Helwysa de Stuteville, of whom he had only Helwysa: Which Helwysa, the daughter and heiress of William and Helwysa, was married to Gilbert son of Roger, son of Raynfred. At the time of which the subsequent end of the exchange of the town of Ulverston with part of the Montagnard was lifted.
