Proved 1723. TEXT: "In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Young, Senr. of Methwold in the County of Norfolk, Gentl., being sicke in body but of good and perfect mind and memory (praised be almighty God for the same) minding the uncertainty of life and for as much as in me lye to prevent all controversie & disputes to inhinge that Estate I leave behind me Do make and ordain this my last Will & testament in manner and for in following ... I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping asuredly through the meritts of my all sufficient Saviour, Jesus Christ to have full remission of all my Sins and after this life ended, everlasting happiness, my body I ... to the earth... And as for that worldy Estate which God of his infinite mercy hath bestowed upon me for which I return him my most humbly and hearty thanks, I dispose thereof as followeth. ITEM: I give and Bequeath unto Ffrances my well beloved wife all that my messuange or tenement at Methwold wherein I now live in with the Barnes, stables, outhouses, yards, orchards, gardens, and other appurtenances thereto belonging for and during the term of her natural life and after her Decease, I give and bequeath my aforesaid Messuage with all & singular its appurtenances unto Thomas Younge my sone and his Heirs for ever. ITEM: Out of my further kindness to my son Thomas Younge I give and Bequeath to him & his Heirs forever All that my tenement lying at the Low Greene with the piece of ground being the breadth of the said House & lying on the West side of the said House and also an acre of pastures called "Blow mound acre". And also I do further give unto my son, Thomas Younge and his assigns all that half of my Cottedge Lease now in the use and occupation of John Hevoic, But my Will and meaning is that he, my said son Thomas shall pay unto my Dear beloved wife Ffrances Younge yearly and every year for the maintenance the sum of six Pounds per annum by four quarterly payments without any deductions whatsoever. And also shall pay unto Dianah my Daughter the sum of four score Pounds of lawful money of Great Britian within one year after my decease which I do hereby give her accordingly, but in case my son Thomas shall refuse or neglect to pay the said sum of six pounds yearly to my wife as above said or the said sum of fourscore Pounds to my said Daughter as aforesaid pursuant to my bequest, then my Will and meaning is that my said wife, Ffrances and my Daughter Dianah Younge shall enter upon all and singular my Messuages, Houses, and lands given to my said sone Thomas and the Rents, Issues, and Profits thereof to ...(collect until paid, etc.) ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Richard Young and his assigns all that my other part of my Cottedge Land in Methwold now in my use. ITEM: Out of my ffurther kindness to my son Richard Younge I give and bequeath all that my Close called "Homebridge Close: which I purchased of John Hewson Clerk lying in Methwold. And also my three acres of L____ Meadows Purchased of Guttridge Johold the said Homebridge Close and Meadows to him the said Richard Younge my son and to his Heirs forever. ITEM: Out of my further kindness to Richard my son whereas I have agreed with Dionis Shales, Gentl., for the purchase of a messuage & certain Lands in Methwold for the sum of fourscore Pounds, fifty pounds thereof being paid and the other thirty pounds remaining due 'til the writings can be Executed, I give and Bequeath the said sum of fifty Pounds paid in part of the said purchase and also the sum of thirty pounds to comtpeat the said purchase I give and Bequeath to my son Richard Younge to purchase the said Estate to him and his Heirs, but my will and meaning is that my said son Richard Younge do pay unto Ffrances my wife the sum of six pounds yearly and every year for her maintenance by four quarterly payments... (and same amt. as Thomas gives to Dianah...if he doesn't...same as with Thomas). ITEM: I give and bequeath unto Mary Caney my grandchild the sum of twenty five Pounds to be paid her by my Executors hereafter named at her age of one and twenty years or day of marriage which first happen, but my will and meaning is that the interest of that sum be paid yearly for the childs use by my executors hereafter named... ITEM: I give unto Elizabeth Caney my grandchild the sum of five pounds to be paid by my executors at her age of one & twenty years or day of marriage which first happen. The interest... ITEM: I desire my loving [?] friend Edward Smith of Methwold to be overseer of this my Will & my will and meaning is that my Executors hereafter named be in all things directed & governed by him in the Execution & ___ of this my Will and do give him for his trouble five guyneas to be paid him by my Executors. And as to all and singular my goods and chattles unbequeathed, I do hereby give and bequeath to my two sons Thomas Younge & Richard Younge whom I make Executors of this my last Will and testiment they paying my Debts, Legacies and ffuneral expences. In witness whereof I the said Thomas Younge have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of May one Thousand seven hundred and seventeen. Tho. Young --- Signed sealed published & declared by the said Thomas Younge as his Last Will and Testament revoking all former wills by him at any time heretofore made in the presence of John Payne, Charles Constable, Robt. Bird ------- Codicil: Memorandum: This Ninth day of August one Thousand seven hundred and twenty, I Thomas Younge of Methwold in the County of Norfolk, Gentl. ITEM: I give and bequeath to Ffrances my well beloved wife three of my best cows at her election and the furniture of one Roome as it stands to be delivered by my Executors hereinafter named Immediately after my decease. ITEM: I will & bequeath and my ____ intent and meaning is that in case my said son Thomas should dispose of or sell any part of my said Estate given to him by my last will and testament whereunto this "codicil" is __eped that immediately after such sale or disposal he pays or cause to be paid to my son Richard Younge his executor & administrators and assigns the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto Thomas Caney my grandson the sum of twenty & five Pounds to be paid him at his age of fifteen years by my executors hereafter named to be paid into his Mother's hands to be put out by her to his best advantage. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Richard his exeutors andministrators and assigns all the cropp ...whatsoever that shall be growing upon that part of the Cottedge Land in his use at the time of my decease or in the barns.
