Writ, 17 January, 46 Edward III [1373]
LONDON. Inq. taken before the mayor, Saturday after the Conversion of St. Paul, 47 Edward III.
He died on 16 January, 46 Edward III [1373], seised of:—
Parish of All Hallows Stanyng. A tenement called ‘Blaunchappelton,’ held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London.
His daughters Eleanor, aged 7 years, and Mary, aged 4 years and more, are his heirs.
Writ of plura, 4 March, 47 Edward III.
LONDON. Inq. taken before the mayor, 8 March, 47 Edward III.
Parish of All Hallows Stanyng (as above).
(The city). 206l. 2s. 5 1/2d. yearly rent receivable by the hands of the sheriffs by grant of the king to William de Bohun, late earl of Norhampton, his father, and his heirs male.
Parish of St. Olave by the Tower. 6s. 8d. yearly rent issuing from a tenement of Richard Cotyngham, and 16d. yearly rent from a tenement of John atte Wall, ‘cappere.’
All held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London.

NORFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Fulmodeston, Friday after the Conversion of St. Paul, 47 Edward III.
Fulmodeston. The manor (extent given), held of Oliver de Calthorp, knight, and William Bardolf, services not known. The extent includes a leet held about the feast of All Saints.

SUFFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Offeton, Saturday after the Purification, 47 Edward III.
Helmesete and Offeton. The manors, held of the castle of Framlyngham and the abbot of St. Edmund, services not known. Long before his death, ……. Easter, 42 Edward III, he enfeoffed Thomas Graunson thereof for life, with reversion to himself and his heirs;and afterwards, about the feast of All Saints; 46 Edward III, he granted the said reversion by charter to Richard earl of Arundel, Simon de Sutbery, bishop of London, Guy Bryan, John de Bapton, and …….. of the said reversion.
Hyntlesham. The manor, held of the prior of Canterbery, Warin del Ilde (sic) and Helming Leget, services not known. Long before his death, about the feast of Holy Trinity, 45 Edward III, he enfeoffed by charter the said earl, the said bishop, John Knyvet and another thereof.

Uplambourne. The manor, with the advowson of a chapel therein, held of the king in chief by service of 40s. yearly by the hands of the sheriff.
Edewyneston [and Asshebury]. (fn. 2) A messuage, a carucate of land, 26a. meadow and 46s. 11d. rent, held of the abbot of Glastyngbury by service of 15s. yearly, and charged with 25s. yearly to the prior of St. Frideswide’s, Oxford.
Henton. The manor and the advowson of its church, held of Edward prince of Wales, as of the honor of St. Valéry, by knight’s service. He held it in fee tail, with remainder to the king and his heirs, by reason of a gift thereof which the king made to William de Bohun, his father.

Kyrtlyngton. The manor, held of the king in chief by service of a third part of a knight’s fee.
Dadyngton. The manor, held of the king in chief by service of a third part of two knights’ fees.
Hasele. The manor with the advowson of its church, held of Sir Edward, prince of Wales, as of the honor of Walyngford, by knight’s service.
Piryton. The manor, similarly held of the prince.
Ascote. The manor, held of John de Plesseto, as of the manor of Hoggenorton, by knight’s service. The deceased gave it to Gilbert Giffard, knight, for life, to hold by the rent of a rose at Midsummer.
All the above were held by the deceased in fee tail, with remainder to the king and his heirs, by gift of the king to William de Bohun, his father.

Westgrenewych. A moiety of certain gavelkind tenements, to wit, a capital messuage in ruins, a garden, a dovecote not stocked, 4a. 1r. arable, and a plot of land adjoining the water called ‘Rendesbourne,’ held of the lord de Say by service of rendering 181/2d. yearly and doing suit to his court of Grenewych every three weeks.

The extent includes a several pasture in the little park and elsewhere, worth 20s. only because of the number of deer, (the pasture in the great park being commonto the tenants and the neighbourhood), occasional pannage in the forest and park, and leets.

Longebynyngton; The manor (extent given), held of the honor of Richmond, service not known. The extent includes 5 carucates of land, whereof 2 have lain unfilled for many years and are in a watery place far from the town, and cannot be let to farm becauseof their barrenness.

The castle, including buildings of no value beyond expenses, 351a. arable, 30a. meadow, 20a. pasture, a wood of no yearly value beyond the upkeep because mostly consisting of great trees, a view of frankpledge twice a year at Hokeday and Michaelmas, and 106s. 8d. rent of assise of free tenants.

Amondesham. The manor (extent given) and the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief, as of the honor of Maundevill, by service of one knight’s fee. The extent includes a view of frankpledge held twice a year at Hokeday and Michaelmas.
Wycombe borough. 30l. 13s. 4d. yearly to be received from the burgesses by the king’s grant, on condition that he acquit the said burgesses at the Exchequer, as against the king, of 20l. thereof; and a manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by service of one knight’s fee.
Crendon. A third part of the manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by knight’s service.

Farnham. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held of the king, as parcel of the barony of the earldom of Essex. Long before his death he granted a yearly rent of 40 marks from the said manor to John de Burgh, knight, for life, with the king’s licence.
Hodesdon. The view of frankpledge, and the court of the honor of Hertford, held of the king as above.
