Notes

The first application by Adam, himself, on 4 May, 1835, gives his birth date and place as recorded in his father's family bible and later copied into his own. It also states that he was 16 years old when he took the place of his father, Matthias, who had been drafted to serve from Culpepper County VA. on the 1st of June 1779 0r 1780. One of the character references given by Adam at this petition was John Thornton. The second application was made on 1, November, 1852, by Adam's son, John, age 56, living in Texas Co. MO on behalf of himself and his siblings, whom he names, along with the marriage date of his parents, naming his mother, where they resided, and when both of them passed on. The third application was made by Adam's second wife, Hannah and contains no genealogical information. Al three applications were dinied due to length of service being less than six months.
