Notes

Part of the Revolutionary War pension file of Adam House, this application is made by John House of Texas Co. Missouri on behalf of himself and his siblings on 1 Nov, 1852. Some vital details are given on this application including the marriage date of Adam and his wife, Catharine ( 10 May 1782) and also the date of her death (10 May, 1837)

The year (1837) given on this record is known to be in error, as Catherine signed a deed as wife of Adam on 14 May 1838. The day and Month are believed to be correct, only the year is most likely 1839. It is also probable, but not yet proven, that the year of marriage is actually 1785 for the following reasons: (1) April of 1785 is the first day that Catherine, wife of Adam House is found on the records of Hebron Church of which the House family were members. (2) The first known child of the marriage was born in 1786. BH
